MikeBe: I only use movie poster images (where they exist) in DVDPedia. I consider DVDPedia to be "MoviePedia". When adding a new movie(I have over 3,800 titles made up of DVDs and Laserdiscs), I browse the net for "[name] Movie Poster". There are many places on the net which supp...

Modification to Full Screen View

Under the new OS, full screen view is simply beautiful.

How can one add the location field to either or both of the windows?

Over 3800 listings, and location is a must to find the location of the dvd.

Thanks for any help

Wanted to give you an update ... the solution is surprisingly easy. Just find the number of seconds between the Apple epoch of 1/1/2001 into the Unix epoch of 1/1/1970, which is 978307200 seconds. The sprintf function of SQLite will then return the correct value using the syntax strftime("%m/%d...

Thanks Conor ... that did it. The algorithm to convert the decimal values into the current year (which I need for my purposes) is INT(2001 + [field] / 31536000) INT being the function which returns the integer part of a number. I'm integrating php and the DVDpedia SQLite database using IIS and Micro...

SQLite Date Values in DVDPedia

Is the Julian Date used as the date format for date fields in the DVDPedia SQLite database?

If so, is the reference date 1 Jan 1950?

If not, how does one decode the "raw" values back into valid dates?

Thanks for your help

Sorry ... been away for a while. Yes, you're correct. There isn't a replace button. There is a tab for writing SQL Queries ... This is where you can update records, do replaces (no deletes ... please :)). Look at the documentation for SQL Lite Browser. There is a rudimentary syntax to use, e.g., UPD...

Not for everyone ... BUT!

There is a free viewer program (for both Mac and PC) for the SQL Lite database DVDPedia uses. This program is not only a viewer, but also supports full editing. The structure of the DVDPedia database isn't too terribly difficult to figure out ... most everything is in the ZENTRY table. I was faced w...

Thanks Conor!

This seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. Much easier than MySQL & php.

Detail html page references

Any way to generate detail pages which are "linked" to the specific movie? for example, Collection ID or other generic field. Thus 325.html would be Collection ID 325 in the DVDPedia collection. Changing the Cover.html template is very easy ... but I don't see a way to change the names of ...

Thanks for the link! I'm familiar with php and very familiar with MySQL. Python doesn't look too awfully difficult. I have php and MySQL running on the imac, & will give a try using the export text file -> mySQL -> web site dataflow. I'll let you know how it goes. This mechanism REALLY opens up ...

The Klaidescape interface is quite attractive, and is designed primarily for viewing on "big screens". The main menu allows vertical and horizontal movement. Select a movie cover, and the screen animates to place all other movies with the same genre on the screen. The individual screen for...

Generate ALL Smart Collections to HTML Simultaneously

I've modified and created various templates for my movie collection. I currently export a cover page of images, and a detailed page for each image by genre, or some multiple of criteria (e.g., new movies = movies not watched whose release date is within two years, etc.) Is there any way to generate ...

I use DVDPedia for a movie catalog system ... not a DVD catalog system (contrary to what its name implies). I currently have over 5,000 entries (3,500+ Laserdiscs plus HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, etc.) I prefer the original movie poster artwork when possible to the "garish" DVD labeling. I ordinarily...

Deleting Cover Images

I regularly update DVD Covers to Movie Posters in DVDpedia. (I prefer to use the program as Movie, as opposed to a DVD, catalog program). I notice that when I replace the cover image, an entirely brand-new file is created, as evidenced by the <image>###.jpg</image> entry. The old file is also on dis...
