Re: Why do the Pedias convert images?
Because the compression is set at the lowest and the quantization step of compression is not done file sizes are larger than what can really be achieved with JPEG by using a more aggressive compression, but we keep the compression at a minimum to save image quality and hence the larger image size. ...

Why do the Pedias convert images?
If I drag a PNG to a Pedia's cover area it accepts it as the new artwork. If I then drag that cover back to the Finder from a Pedia, it comes out as a JPEG. Since PNG is lossless and JPEG is not, vital image quality has been lost. I also note that if you drag a 200k JPEG to a Pedia and then drag it ...

How do your organize your magazines?
Now that I've got my comics sorted out, I'm on to my magazines. How have you all been setting up your magazine entries in Bookpedia? Comics: "The Avengers (1963)" Title: The Avengers Series: 1963 Issue Number: Custom field (same as used to sequence book series like Elric or Lord of the Isl...

DVDpedia won't keep empty Video Format
Go to the Fields submenu in Preferences. Observe that the default Video Format is NTSC. Set the Video Format to empty. Quit and restart DVDpedia. Go back to the Fields submenu. Note that the Video Format has been reset to NTSC. If you had set Video Format to any non-empty string, DVDpedia would have...

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix B000W7GFG4 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire B000E6EK3S Make sure you already have a Credit for Emma Watson. Then do a Get Advanced Info/Amazon US. Note the new duplicate entry for "Emma Watson (II)". I dunno, maybe Amazon is just screwed up, sin...

Do a Get Advanced Info/Amazon US. Observe a credit for "Blackmore's Night" with an empty Role field.

Pedias reset dates when they shouldn't
If I change (in DVDpedia, for instance) the Release field from "%b %Y" to "%d %b %Y", some but not all of the records in the data base will have their day field reset to 01. I find this bizarre, because that looks like a display specification, which should have no effect on the a...

DVDpedia: Amazon downloader doesn't ignore (II)
If I have a cast member named Polly Adams (from United 93, in case you want to test it) in my credits, and I do a Get Advanced Info from Amazon, DVDpedia will download an entry for "Polly Adams (II)". These are obviously the same person. DVDpedia should have an option to ignore the trailin...

DVDpedia: Option to ignore certain cast entries
When you are downloading cast entries, perhaps via a Get Advanced Info, it would be desirable to have an option to ignore entries with empty (or nothing but spaces, tabs, etc) fields in either the Actor or Role. The Amazon download seems to get lots of them.

Select fields for Get Advanced Info
It would be nice if it were possible, when doing a Get Advanced Info, to have a Get All But These or Get Only These restriction on the actions of Get Advanced Info (including Credits, not just the regular fields).

Option not to create backup1Month.pediadata et al
I would like an option to prevent the Pedias from creating backup files like backup1Month.pediadata. I do my own backups and would prefer my apps not create backup files unless I explicitly command them to do so.

Download complete cast listing from IMDB?
If there isn't already a way to do this, it would be very nice if DVDpedia could do this. Manually typing in the cast is very time consuming.
