Re: cover photos
I have both good and bad news. The good news is that I found a preference that said "open links in an external browser". When I turned that off, DVDpedia worked correctly. Now the bad news: not all links work. For example, I added the film 'Max Manus', which IMDB found. However, when I cli...

Re: cover photos
I tested it a bit more, and finding a poster and setting it as the cover picture is really fast now. Great. Btw, I noticed that for many movies the "primary poster" on MoviePosterDB is very unsatisfying. Take a look at these ones: http://www.movieposterdb.com/movie/0040919 I doubt that se...

Re: cover photos
No, it is still not working correctly. Here is the link I get when right-clicking in DVDpedia: http://www.movieposterdb.com/movie/ Also, something strange. I copied the working InfoTemplates folder from one machine to the other and the link shows up. When I click the link in one machine, an internal...

Re: cover photos
Sorry, I did not notice it the first time. You are correct, I also get the 'Warning...' message.

Re: cover photos
The problem was what Conor described: that I am using a different location for the preference folder (I have two copies of DVDpedia running on different machines and I tried to pick one location for both). When I transfered the file to the correct location it worked. Also, when I click on the movie ...

Re: cover photos
Mine appears just like yours. To be sure: InfoTemplates is one word, I and T are capital and the word is plural. Posters is a capital P. Perhaps I need to reboot the machine?

Re: cover photos
There is an important step that I might have forgotten to mention that is to rename the file once copied into the InfoTempaltes folder. Once renamed restart DVDpedia and go to the preference under the styles tab your renamed style will appear in the pop-up for info view styles. Select your created ...

Re: cover photos
Many thanks (again) for your help, Conor. Although I have over 600 films in my collection, very few are current or recent Hollywood films. Perhaps that is why, in my experience, the images at IMDB and movieposterdb are almost always different. I have edited the files as you described. How will it wo...

Re: cover photos
Many thanks for your reply, Conor. MoviePosterDB is a great web page and a good resource. The problem at the moment is that their API only delivers posters at a 300 pixel resolution (larger resolutions are bought and help pay for hosting costs). However more importantly it only delivers the first po...

Re: cover photos
As I wrote before, this exact topic has come up before and, so far, nothing at all has been done about it. Before we start discussing possible solutions, I think we need to convince Dvdpedia's programmers to do something about this. It seems pretty clear to me that the situation is getting worse sin...

Re: cover photos
I am certainly glad to hear that I am not the only person who prefers film posters over dvd covers! As DVDPedia works now with 'add film,' for example, using IMDB, I can see a pop-out list of several films that come close to matching the name I put in. I can preview the film data, then pick the one ...

Imdb information incomplete
This morning, I tried to add the film Children of Men (2006) to DvdPedia. Although the title and some other information was downloaded, most was not. What was not included: director, writer and the cast. It found the correct film but did not download this data even though the data is present on the ...

Re: cover photos
I realise that this has been brought up before. However, when no one -- DVD cover collectors or others -- are getting useful images from ImdB, I don't understand why an alternative source cannot be implemented? I am quite disappointed that there has been no attention paid to this thread/issue yet.

cover photos
I understand that many users like the DVD cover images that DvdPedia downloads from Imdb. I, however, prefer film posters (I know this has been discussed before). Lately, it seems, the cover photos from Imdb have become more useless. I have now, for example, three times downloaded via DvdPedia this ...
