- Topic: How is DVDPedia comparing with Creatisoft's Online Library?

Hi, I certainly hope you would come across that page as it seems you are involved in the creation of the software. :) The software being in beta it is too early to compare. More importantly being on Windows is a completely different experience. DVD Profiler is what the Windows crowd seems to prefer,...

We thought about it originally but it then complicates updating the web view files with the new versions if they are kept in a separate folder. This is why we wrote the pediaextras extension. If you download one of the webview extras from our extras page, simply open that package contents and replac...

A user built such a template but I only got to see the final website in action. He did not want to provide the template for other users, he felt it was in a rough condition. In theory it's not hard to code, using SQL import statements and the tags available for export. As for the cover images you co...

Thanks for the suggestions. Happy to hear you find DVDpedia a great app. 1) A good suggestion. The Amazon rating if you remove them and then search IMDB you will get the IMDB rating instead. You can tell the difference by the fact that IMDB is out of 10 instead of 5 and tends to have a large number ...

If you send me your .xml export from DVD Profiler I can look at updating the importer to include the subtitles and language information. I believe the format was hard to parse from DVD Profiler to include that information. Maybe a user with a popular database would be willing to share it with you. B...

First of all thank you, we are glad you liked the programs. Although it is the work of a single programmer, it's thanks to others. First of all Nora who does all the rest and it means more time for me to concentrate on programming. Apple for the excellent Cocoa framework, that saves increadible amou...

The order of the fields does not matter when importing the file. When you import the file, CDpedia will ask you to map each field to its corresponding counterpart in CDpedia via a series of pop-up menus (this becomes easier if you tell Excel to make the first line of the tab export the field header ...

There once were a boy and a girl with a great idea for an application, in a market where the choices were mediocre and expensive (of course it would be Mac, is there anything else?). They went on to develop the application without money for marketing with great success thanks to loyal users spreadin...

What Nora says is true. We don't use a MySQL type database where searches could be indexes. So the internal search field as well as the smart collections have to search through the entire database. The algorithms are very efficient and this is fine for 5000 entries, but with 200,000 you're not going...

Sadly the iPod is not open to programming like that. Maybe in the future if Apple so deems that we should be able to play around with the iPod. They have opened up the notes section and you can export to the iPod that way like the pedias do, but this only accepts plain text. I think what you are loo...

These are great ideas that we hope to implement in the future. At the moment Amazon doesn't provide access to these features through their API. We hope these features as well as search within a book and placing a book for sale on their marketplace will be possible. Amazon has done great work on the ...

This is a problem with Amazon, especially for CDs and foreign Amazon sites. They tend to do better searches when it comes to books or DVDs. Although they return the UPC information they don't make it searchable. But they are continually working hard on updates, improving their services and bringing ...
