Re: Bookpedia Newbie questions

Thank you so much! You are very helpful and gracious. I now see that if a book has many editions, it's likely the LOC data (LCC and Dewey) will be identical for all editions, so I can copy it from a diff. edition, e.g. Does God Still Guide's older edition will supply me with what I need for LOC code...

Re: Bookpedia Newbie questions

Just remember to delete the information before doing an advanced search since Bookpedia will never overwrite information already present in a field. Eric: Thanks for that info. I didn't know it wouldn't override present data, and I didn't really understand the advanced search. I tried it out more w...

Bookpedia: Is Library of Congress (LOC) being accessed?

Is it possible that LOC is not being accessed? I never get any LCC codes in my searches, and I just scanned a relatively recent book that has an ISBN, but nothing was found for it. I'm using Bookpedia 4.5.4 on OS 10.5.7 (Leopard).

Bookpedia Newbie questions

Hi, all. I'm new to Bookpedia and trying to adapt it to my needs. Here are some things I could use some help with: (1) Seems that in the "Summary" field Bookpedia automatically places the first review in amazon.com? Is that right? Any way I can prevent that? I especially don't like it that...

Re: z39.50 servers - how to search their data

Thank you! I installed the improved application file, and it doesn't crash. Great. But I still can't get the searches to work. Any idea why? I did feel as if there was a mistake in the Lith. Union Catalogue URL you listed, so I changed it to z39.libis.lt:210/KNYGOS. But first I tried it the way you ...

Re: z39.50 servers - how to search their data

Followup: I thought Bookpedia would search those z39 sites automatically, but I may be wrong (I'm new to Bookpedia and still trying to find out if it will do what I need). So...I clicked on the gear at the bottom of the page that said "No title found", and I selected one of the sites I jus...

z39.50 servers - how to search their data

Hi, Since I have some Lithuanian books in my library, I went to Bookpedia's Advanced>z39.50 servers menu and clicked on "possible servers". The search for ones for Lithuania led me to this http://irspy.indexdata.com/find.html?cql.anywhere=&dc.title=&zeerex.country=Lithuania&net...

Re: Bookpedia-review features

Thank you! I really appreciate your keeping on top of these posts! I realize that can be done in Bookpedia, and probably I could adapt to it. Thanks for the response and explanation!

Bookpedia-review features

I'd love to see Bookpedia include the ability to embed reviews as in Librarian Pro software. It is neat and sometimes useful to have reviews from on-line sources (like reviews on amazon.com), but I would specifically like the ability to embed my own reviews and perhaps other review-like evaluative t...
