I'm one of those geeks that collect video game music and it's a pain in the behind to add these albums to CD Pedia because many times iTunes gives Japanese-only names or doesn't find it at all. Lord knows Amazon doesn't help. So I'm proposing that you implement VGMdb.net's free CDDB alternative for video game music:
http://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2618
Basically just point your application to one of these addresses:
http://vgmdb.net:80/cddb [Default language]
http://vgmdb.net:80/cddb/en [English]
http://vgmdb.net:80/cddb/ja [Japanese]
http://vgmdb.net:80/cddb/ja-Latn [Romaji]
Seems like an easy enough thing to implement. Thanks a lot guys!
EDIT: Actually, if you want to be super extra cool, contact VGMdb (they're working on an API) and see if you can implement an import feature so VGMdb users can import their collections into CD Pedia..?
CDPedia: New free database
Re: CDPedia: New free database
Thank you for the link to a new source. I'll take at the possibility of modifying a copy of Freedb plug-in to work with VGMdb. I can't say that CDDB protocol is the easiest to implement as it's rather old and only allow searches based on the disc ID, so it's not great as it requires the CD in the drive.

I understand but it would at the very least mean a lot for me VGMdb is working on an API so maybe contact the webmaster so you can get info on a searchable database?Conor wrote:Thank you for the link to a new source.
