Negative Date format for Ancient history

Hi,

I am using bookpedia and I want to use negative years (Before Jesus Christ) for some ancient history books. Actually it doesn't work. Bookpedia just see the number.For example the Year -200 is near the year 200
What can I do ?

We will look at expanding the date format to be able to handle BC dates in future version, thank you for pointing that out. In the meantime please use one of the custom fields, that do not impose a format, for these older books. In the custom field you can use or a negative numbers or the BC designation. The sorting would be different so it's best to stick to one format.

It's what I did. The problem is the order is inverted. For example I've got:
Books 1 (Year 2000)
Books 2 (Year 5)
Books 3 (Year -500)
Books 4 (Year -5)

At least the books are separated but not in the same order

The native sorter of the Mac does not take into account the minus sign as a number. It's a regular character that gets sorted prior to the actual number. Unfortunately, using "AD 500" and "BC 500" would have the same sorting issue. Something that might help, while we add support for BC dates, is to have a smart collection that shows you only BC books and AD books (custom1 begins with -). If it's important to see all the books together you could use two columns, allowing the reversal sorting of the BC column.
