Adding a new DVD - Amazom search fails!

Post by airlinepilot717 »

Each time I try to add a new dvd Amazon comes up with nothing. When I first bought this it worked. Now only IMBd works, and of course BOL.it which always has blurry covers.

Please Help!

Do you have the latest version of DVDpedia, 4.6.4? You can use the 'Check for Updates' command found under the DVDpedia menu to make sure.
If you do have the latest version yet the search continues to fail, please let us know which Amazon site it is you're using and a sample keyword or title search you've tried.
Also, could you have a look at your console log, see if there are any messages from DVDpedia? You can access the console log via the application 'Console', located inside your Applications/Utilities. The newer messages are towards the end of the log.

Run the Application "Console" found in Applications/Utilities, go into the File menu > 'Save a copy as' and send us that saved file. You'll find our email on the support page.

Couldn't it be the problem that amazon only allows a certain amount of queries per hour. Is this still actual or is there a change in the meantime?

I'm sorry for the confusion - I meant the Applications folder on your computer. In the Finder, click on your hard drive and you'll see the 'Applications' folder. In there, navigate to 'Utilities' and you'll find the application 'Console'. Run that program and under the File menu select "Save a copy as" and save it to your Desktop. Then attach that file to an email to us.

@Pebowski - This problem should have been taken care of with the latest update to the Pedias. We'll know more when we take a look at the console log and see if there are any messages from Amazon regarding the errors.

Glad to know our error message make enough sense that you were able to fix the issue without any help. The new signature requires the use of a timestamp, and the clock needs to be set correctly in order to be able to calculate the GMT time.
