Like pikajo wrote, since I've upgraded on 7.0, when adding movies most of the fields are blank. A computer restart didn't work for me.

I've also been having this problem since last week. It was working fine, and then all of a sudden many fields weren't getting populated. Probably a change on IMDB's side.

I downloaded Beta 308 of DVDPedia today, but that didn't really help. Here's what's happening now as of Beta 308:

- The "Creator" field erroneously gets filled with the name of the film's writers
- Several credits that used to get downloaded are not downloading anymore. In my case, they are: Cinematographer, Editor, Composer. There are probably others depending on your selection in the IMDB section of the "Sites" preferences page.

Ok as Martin Nadeau just mentioned there is an update to DVDpedia version 7 Beta 308 - thank you for that news.

Now as to IMDb not populating fields, and just to reiterate what Martin said in his post, can we all please check to ensure you have selected these fields to be populated by going to:

1 - Settings > Fields and selecting the Field you want displayed and the Location you want it in
2 - Settings > Sites > IMDb ⛭ and again selecting the Fields you want populated.

I know to most this may sound basic, but it is worth repeating.

NOTE: I personally have been having no problems with IMDb,.

I tested this using IMDb:

00820969 for Das Boot the Director's Cut
0241527 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
0056172 for Lawrence of Arabia Collector's Edition (2 Disc Set)
with all the Credit fields ticked

A good way to double-check things is to go to the movie on Wikipedia.

NOTE: Creator within IMDb is the same as Writers or Original Screenplay, and this is how DVDpedia is picking the data from IMDb.

OH, and one more thing. Can we all please provide exact movie name and IMDb number so we can check results.

I thought I'd show specifically what's happening on my side, using "Das Boot" (0082096) as an example. The screenshots are actually iCloud links; I hope it works and you can view them.

On the first screenshot, you can see my settings for IMDB in DVDPedia's preferences:

So I should be getting complete actors, producer, composer, cinematographer, and editor.

On this next screenshot, you can see that none of these are returned in DVDPedia's Credits page after doing an IMDB search for Das Boot:

This used to work until last week. Also, on the next screenshot you can see that the relevant custom fields are not getting populated on DVDPedia's Main Edit page after doing the IMDB search. This also used to work until last week:

After 15 years still learning. IMDB import now works fine for me, brilliant!!

Yes, I am populating more fields than you, including all the actors. All the fields I require are exactly the same as yours, except I also include Tags.

The only thing I can now suggest is you do a total delete and fresh install of DVDpedia including all the Preference files, and of course DO NOT DELETE the Database, by following these instructions here: Pedia Maintenance Practices and following points; 1, 2, 3 & 4.

It only takes about 15 minutes to re-setup your preferences including IMDb.

I know this is a drastic move, but sometimes updating software on top of previous software, just once or all the time, can cause problems. I do not know if the pedia's delete prior to update or just overwrite the relevant files.

Furthermore, I recently bought a new machine M4 Mac mini and did a complete fresh installation of everything, I did not use Migration Assistant. I only bought over from Time Machine; databases, documents, etc, not actual programs or app's. And, because I do beta testing of the pedia's I usually have at least two previous versions stored away. I also run a Father (Time Machine) and an off site Grandfather backup regime (once bitten twice shy from the late 80s days of Windows). But even before then on my old 2014 iMac the pedia's and IMDb were working as should.

I'll try a complete uninstall and then fresh new installation, as you suggest.

The strange thing is that this started happening in the middle of a long disc input session. I was doing IMDB search after IMDB search and everything was fine, and then all of a sudden the next movie I searched for stopped returning my custom fields and it hasn't worked since then. Pretty weird...

Anyway, I'll try your suggestion and hopefully it works.

I made a fresh install but the problem is still here.
