Bookpedia - Italian

Post by moonjoon »

Hello all.
I'm thinking about buying bookpedia or booxster. Delicious library is no match for both on the italian automatic acquisition of infos.

I've checked your forum and functionality of BP and i've found it problematic to get infos from BOL.IT (direct link http://www.bol.it/libri/ricerca/?crcselect=100&g=9788804463320)and IBS (http://www.internetbookshop.it/ser/serdsp.asp?isbn=9788804463320).
And as a new feature request i would like to have webster.it (direct link example http://www.webster.it/c_power_search.php?shelf=ALL&q=9788804463320) cause they have also older books

But there's more, i've found out a very old (2006) topic about getting book infos from OPAC (http://www.internetculturale.it/moduli/opac/opac.jsp) (that's a really full database) never answered...

Now these things are really important to me... any chance there's a deadline to have them working? and when you think will they be ready?

As much as i understood you have a problem with OPAC since you would need a direct research link, if you are willing to create the plugin i might try to ask them if they have (or might create) a direct link...

Thank you for the plug-in site suggestion and information. BOL recently changed their site, download the Bookpedia beta to get the most recent plug-in version, although there will be an official update soon, so you can wait for that as well. I did not have an issue finding the book on IBS (on a related note about George R. Martin, I am looking forward to part 2 of the 4th book of the series A Song of Ice and Fire coming out in November, although by now they are calling book 5). With the internetculturale.it their z39.50 server was not compatible with Bookpedia, so we would have to create a regular plug-in instead of using the z39.50 protocol. There are no deadlines on the plug-ins you mentioned. We are currently working on the programs as well as the new iPhone application Pocketpedia. Taking a tip from Apple and doing a Snow Leopard type cleanup and improving the current features, instead of adding new plug-ins. Hopefully will be able to extend the z39.50 protocol to cover other standards (although now thinking about it, I don't remember if internetculturale.it had public access to the z39.50 server).
