Yes Nora, thanks. I did it with no success :( the RTFM standard answer is not what is needed :(

I'm truly unable to find the correct parameters but on these days I'll contact a local library searching some tips.

Can you pick up the required parameters from this page?

http://www.cenfor.net/database/report.asp?idOP=12

Thanks!

I tried out the information from the web page you sent, straight on the z39.50 interface skipping Bookpedia all together in my terminal window. And I get no results from the server. There must be a configuration I am missing, you will need to get help from the library who runs the server on how to configure the query. Most of the time, server addresses are accompanied by a database name which this one does not have. That could be the issue.

These are the results of asking the yaz client directly in the terminal window.

Code: Select all

computer: ./yazclient opac.sbn.it:3950 USmarc "@attr 1=1016 "roberto"" 10
results: 0
computer: ./yazclient opac.sbn.it:3950 USmarc "@attr 1=4 "roberto"" 10
results: 0
computer: ./yazclient opac.sbn.it:3950 xml "@attr 1=4 "roberto"" 10
results: 0
computer: ./yazclient opac.sbn.it:3950 marcxml "@attr 1=4 "roberto"" 10
results: 0

Asking to my local Library they sorted out two interesting databases:

http://www.internetculturale.it/moduli/opac/opac.jsp

http://sbnweb.csi.it:8092/semplice.html

(or better)

http://sbnweb.csi.it:8092/BASIS/opacx/u ... simplex/sf

They allow to browse a national database. I think this is far better than ibs and bol !

Finally i find out the right settings for OPAC services:

Indirizzo Internet del server: opac.sbn.it alla porta 3950
Nome del database: xxdefault
Ore di disponibilità: 0 - 24
Profili accettati: Z39.50 su TCP - ONE-2 - ATS-1 - Z39.50/ILL Profile 2 - SBN
Sintassi del record / Record syntax SUTRS, UNIMARC, MARC21, XML

but i was unable to made it work :(

This is surely the best source for italian books because this is the national database for public libraries! It's the closer thing to a total catalogation we can have.

I can't get it to work with that information. But I did find this online and it works by referencing the nopac database instead of xxdefault.

Server: opac.sbn.it:3950/nopac
Format: USMarc
Encoding: UTF8

Hello everyone,
another italian here with server problems. Thanks for correct sbn parameters. Talking about bol.it, I've found these infos on their site (http://www.bol.it/home/areapartner#motore):

Code: Select all

<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="180" BGCOLOR="#333333">

	<tr><td>

	<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="6">

		<tr bgcolor="#ffffff"><td>

		<font size=1 face="Verdana,

		Arial, Geneva">

		<font color="#333333"><b>Comprare libri su

		Internet</b></font><br>

		Cerchi un libro? Trovalo qui con bol.it<br>

		<FORM ACTION="http://www.bol.it/bol/main.jsp" METHOD="GET" NAME="Ricerca">

<INPUT type="hidden" value="bolrisultatoricerca" name="action">

<INPUT type="hidden" value="bolitaff010101" name="referrer">

<select name="quick_type">

<option value="Titolo">Titolo

<option value="Autore">Autore

<option value="ParolaChiave">Parola chiave

<option value="ISBN">ISBN

</select>

<INPUT type="text" size=15 name="titolo" border=0 maxlenght=300><br>

<input type="submit" value="Cerca" name="searchButton">

</form>

		<div align=right>a cura di: <a href="http://www.bol.it/bol/main.jsp?action=bolhome&todo=libri&referrer=bolitaff010101">www.bol.it</a></div>

		</font></td></tr>

	</table>

	</td></tr>

</table>
can it be useful?

I've found also these sites about z39.50 servers:

Bye
