When things change (like the rating, for example)

Is there any way for dvdpedia to know that?

I know that as a rule the pedias treat as sacred any field that has data in it when you "get advanced info."

Over time things like awards won, the user rating, the movie poster (oh no! let's not go there ... ) change.

So ... ... next to each field in the add/edit, put a checkbox that if checked treats the contents as sacred, but if unchecked will refresh the contents of the field during a "get advanced info" task.

It something we have looked into in the past and we hope to implement it when we can design a nice interface that allows us to convey what has changed to the user and also let him undo the change for the fields. The new add/edit window is a step in that direction. Thank you for the feedback.
