After searching the forum for similar complaints found the hint to re-install the beta 19

Please download beta 19 for DVDpedia and try the search again. If you continue to run into trouble with the search, please let me know the keyword(s) you're using so I can try to reproduce the problem here
but still both the isight and numerical search deliver weird results: 208 hits where the film titles all are numbers (from 0000 onwards). Attached is the Console Log.

Seems that the upgrade from ver. 4 to 5 (and now 5.0.2) broke the formerly fine feature. Hope there will be a fix in due time.

Edit Feb 05: Manual search for titles works fine when I define the appropriate web source, which i have to guess.

What search site(s) are you using? And if it's set to 'All', what are the first few search sites selected in your Preferences/Sites? Not all sites support search by UPC and some sites unfortunately interpret UPCs as titles instead of UPCs and then return titles matching the numbers instead. (We'll fix that for the next release. You're welcome to try the most recent DVDpedia beta (20) which already includes the fix.)

Problem fixed.
You're welcome to try the most recent DVDpedia beta (20) which already includes the fix.
Sites: After upgrading at first all sites were checked, upon encountering the problem as described I unchecked all except IMDb and DVD Palace (and alternatively a couple of others), but the result was the same: European well-known movie films were found by typing in the title, but not by means of the barcode (numerical as well as scanned). After having installed the latest beta, with identical preferences, the first few scans went flawlessly.

Thank you for the quick reply and solution.

I have installed beta 30 and although the barcodes of the DVDs are getting parsed correctly, no results are found. Inputing the title of the DVDs in the search field does yield results.

Can you please give me a couple of UPCs that didn't work for you and also let me know which search site(s) you're using? If you have a specific one selected via the magnifying glass in the search field, please let me know which one it is and whether you have any additional filters applied such as 'Search by Title'. If you're search is set to 'All' please let me know the first couple of sites selected in your Preferences/Sites.

I've tried with Doghouse and IMDb as the first and all the rest enabled. Also with just FilmAffinity (Spanish), IMDb (English) and DVDPalace (German). I've also tried all kinds of combinations in the past which I don't remember.

No filters selected. The movie in question is 8436027573883 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0477331/). I reckon it should at least pop up in IMDb.

Unfortunately IMDb doesn't provide a search by UPC since their website is concerned with the actual movie information not the physical DVD or Blu-Ray data. Doghouse does provide a UPC search but the entry "Lo Que Se De Lola" isn't in the database yet (Doghouse is a user contributed database so it depends on what other users have uploaded from their collections).

Are you signed up for the Amazon search option? That might be interesting for you otherwise (I did find the entry with the UPC on Amazon ES). To sign up, go into the Preferences/Sites and press the 'Amazon Settings' button and follow the steps outlined in the Help.
