Re: Bookpedia: convert checkbox to regular field?

Thanks; I should have thought of that solution myself.

Bookpedia: convert checkbox to regular field?

Is there a way to either convert a checkbox field (along with its values) into a regular field, or at least import from the one to a regular field in the same database? The situation: quite a while ago, I'd created a "Complete series?" checkbox to do exactly that: tell me when a series is ...

Re: BP: Search field shortcut, and hotkey issues

The F shortcut is from the early days (when there was no other type of find) that users have gotten used to and we been keeping it the same to avoid confusion. You do make a good point for command-N, but it would also be slightly strange for command-n not to be part of the "File" menu as ...

BP: Search field shortcut, and hotkey issues

Just that: a hotkey to select the search field on the top/right of the main Bookpedia window. Perhaps Command-Option-F , since Command-Shift-F is already taken. For that matter, is Command-Shift-F really the right shortcut for "Add Manually"? It's not "finding" anything (the impl...

Bookpedia: "Edit Multiple" messes with Return to OK

If I select more than one entry and hit Edit, the Return key does not select OK, which is the default (blue-highlighted) button; it does not seem to matter if any changes are done or not. I.e., the button must be clicked with the mouse/trackpad. I believe this contravenes the OS X UI standard, where...

Re: BP: scanner support for "Capture cover"

FWIW, both Image Capture and Preview have scanner support built-in--and, of course, "Print & Scan" is a Preference Pane (was Print & Fax up to 10.6, changed to Print & Scan in 10.7 and later). But, obviously, it's easier to be able to bypass running a separate app that serves n...

BP: scanner support for "Capture cover"

Just that. Put the book on a TWAIN scanner, hit "Scan cover" and have the image in the cover field (because using the built-in iSight camera is pretty bad for this).

BP: dropdown menus not "keeping place"

I've noticed this in the Extras>Location pane, though I doubt it's unique to that; presumably, it happens with every dropdown menu of autofilled items. Situation: I'm adding an entry and using previously entered and thus autofilled text, " Storage 2 " for example. I start typing, and it qu...

Bookpedia: moved links should be tracked

I wish BP would better be able to track book files. If I have a link to: Ebook > AuthorLASTNAME, AuthorFIRSTNAME > Booktitle that I move to Ebook > AuthorLASTNAME, AuthorFIRSTNAME > seriesname > Booktitle the link in BP breaks. Speaking of which, what does the Move button that appears when I select ...

Bookpedia: set default formats

Pretty much all books I'm adding these days are e-books-- and that's what I use for the Format field, since it's an acceptable (to me) catch-all for the different formats I use. I wish I could set this as a default format when adding books. Often, the search result puts them in as "Kindle"...

Re: Edit multiple items: Strange checkbox effect

OK, got it. As sjk said, a clue that there are mixed values would have helped.

Isn't the standard to have a hyphen in the box to indicate mixed checked/unchecked?

BP: v5 misses books

I bought Bookpedia v. 5; however, it's having trouble with a database I created on v. 4.x 1) When I open the database in v5, about 10% of the books aren't there at all. 2) In addition, a quite number of the fields are screwed up--most noticeably (not not exclusively) the "Series" field is ...

Edit multiple items: Strange checkbox effect

I added a custom checkbox to Bookpedia to have a simple "read?" field. It looks fine when adding entries, but if I edit multiple entries, I get two checkboxes (only the second appears to do anything). For some reason, the "Signed" checkbox also has that. A bug, or is there some o...

Bookpedia: add book by metadata

It would be great if BP could read the metadata of an e-book dropped on it and search for the info that way (and add a link to the book in the Links section).
