"ignore foreign articles" option misbehaves

Post by maik »

Hi,

I'm using the "ignore foreign articles during title sort" option. It doesn't work well when there are foreign articles that conflict with english words, e.g. the german article "die" (article for feminine nouns) causes the "Die Hard" movies to be sorted on "h" rather than "d". A simple solution could be a check box for each movie that indicates whether the first word should be ignored from searching. That would also save you from having to maintain a list of foreign articles for every conceivable language out there ;-)

Cheers,

Thank you for the suggestion. Instead of a check box we have included a sort title field. You can turn it on in the preferences under the fields tab, for the "add edit panel" pop up. You only need to add information in this field for titles that need special handling; fill in "Die Hard" for "Die Hard" to get it sorted with the D's.
