Import XML file created with DVDProfiler

Post by vdelattre »

Hello,

Using the Import functionality to import an XML file (created with DVDProfiler on Windows Vista, with french ACCENTS !!) I am loosing all accents in the DVDPedia application and all accents are replaced by funny caracters !!!! I have edited the XML file on my Macintosh, and checked that all accents are correct in the file.
Any idea why the import functionality doesn't import the accent from my XML file. DVDPedia is replacing all accents by funny caracters

Note : I am using the french DVDPedia version and have more than a thousand of DVD's, most of them with french titles and summaries.

Thanks in advance for your support and help

Before importing the DVD Profiler file open it with TextEdit and use the Save As command and set the format of the file to UTF-8.

Hello,

That's what I did and it works perfectly now.
Just changed the windows-1252 parameter with UTF-8 parameter and restart the import

Got my french accents

Now I do have another problem:
It seems that the import functionality is not importing the Sort-title field. The value is available in the XML file but it's not imported
Any idea how to get the sort-title field imported. The variable name in the XML file is : "SortTitle"

Best Regards

Download the beta and sort title title will be included with the import. Thank you for the information.

hello everybody,

i have some problems with my dvdprofiler xml file too.
one problem is that i have some dvd boxes which are listed as box including the single movies. f.e. dirty harry collection. it is listed as box set, but it contains the 5 movies with their whole profile. the same with some tv series like Twin Peaks. The problem is that in the statistic part i have now David Lynch on the top place with about 80 roles.... or bob crane in "hogans heroes" with 62 entries, because in the profile is a castinglist for every single episode. but if i click on the actor to watch the list, bob crane is just marked as actor in hogans heroes season 1 & 2.
maybe a box function would be helpful and a filter for the profiles.

another thing is that the field "where i bought the dvd" (don't know the right name because i'm using the german version) is filled in correctly from the xml file, but if i want to add a new dvd and fill out this field, there are no entries in the dropdown menue.
and is it right that i have no currency in the price field?

thx

The autofill feature is only populated with the values that you have typed yourself. However, if you would like to populated with all the current possible values in the field at the moment use the refresh feature in the preference under the autofill tab. The price field is imported with the formatted value as given by DVD Profiler. The statistics has an actors and all credits names. Turn off the all credits names and rely on the actor one, this stat only counts those in the starring field. So only actors in that field would be counted and just once. Thank you for the enhancement request that we shouldn't count an actor more than once per movie, but the statistics was recently rebuilt to be more flexible and this makes it hard to make this kind o fine tuned tweaks for special cases.
