iSight problem in Leopard

Post by palewis1990 »

Hello,
I am having a problem with the iSight feature. I have both DVDpedia and Gamepedia. When I click the iSight button in the Search Web menu, the picture is only in the upper right hand quarter of the whole window, with the rest black. The red bars are only covering a small portion of the image, mostly covering the black. The whole feed from the camera is there, just shrunk 50% into the corner. Would this effect the performance of the program? I can't get it to scan any barcodes. This problem only occurred after I reinstalled OS X.
I am running 10.5.5 on a 2.2Ghz MacBook Pro.

Thanks in advance for your help

I been trying to repeat it on a similar system but have been unable to. Try running iChat or PhotoBooth to reset the camera, as well as disabling any QuickTime extensions in ~/Library/QuickTime and /Library/QuickTime by moving them to another folder and logging out and back in to your account. Also check your console log for any messages (although I doubt there will be any messages as it does not sound like an error but an issue with the configuration).

PhotoBooth shows the full camera feed, and I tried disabling the QuickTime extentions like suggested. There are 2 errors in the console log pertaining to dvdpedia or gamepedia. I tried deleting the application and reinstalling both programs, but still no luck.

Hope this means something.

I have the same problem, also after installing Leopard again. Did you already solve this?

Not yet, we are still trying to figure out what configuration makes this happen.

Please try out this version that will print debugging information to the console log. After opening the iSight window send us the console log information. It can be read with the program of the same name in your Utilities folder (new entries are towards the bottom). Thank you.

I bought Bookpedia 'cause I liked the iSight feature, but the same problem here. The iSight-Window shows only a picture in the right upper section, the left and lower window is black and the read scan lines are in the center of the window. That means, the iSight feature is useless, what a bummer!!

I've got a MacBookPro and Leopard

Sincerely

We are looking into the issue as it's only a handful of users who have the partial square display. We haven't found out what setting might be causing the wrong image. Do download the test version mentioned in the post above and send us your console log (the test version prints information for every frame, so run the iSight for only a second to gather the information). Also if your willing to share your system profile with us, that would be helpful. We can compare all three profiles to find out what your systems have in common that might be causing the issue. Use the program "System Profiler" and use the save as command and email us the XML type file.

Please take a look at this thread. (No need to send us your System Profile though. Apple is working at the problem already.)
