Types for Custom Fields

Hello
I was just wondering if it was feasible to assign types to the custom fields.
For instance, the custom fields I use are 'Read it' (since I don't remember when I read some of the books, I can't use 'Last Read'), which would work better as a check box, and a 'Original release date', which should be a date.

Not currently possible, but it's been suggested/discussed before.
