I checked the board but did not see any entries on the topic of synching problems between Bookpedia and Pocketpedia.
I have Bookpedia 6.1.0 installed on a MacBook Pro running on 10.15.7 Catalina and Pocketpedia 3.6.2 on an iPhone 11 running 14.4. For some time, Bookpedia and MacBook Pro have not synched when they are on the same WiFi network. I thought updates would solve any issues but that did not happen.
I tried creating a network on my Mac to no avail.
Any solutions, ideas? Thank you.

Sorry I forgot about a new setting in iOS 14
From this Topic: Pocketpedia Sync Problem
"I think it’s the new local network permission on iOS 14. Visit “Settings” app on your iPhone and then look for “Pocketpedia”. There will be a "local network” access checkbox make sure it’s checked so that Pocketpedia has access to receive data from the Bookpedia on the local network. You might have to relaunch Pocketpedia by swiping up in the app picker, that is initiated by swiping up from the bottom edge of the screen." Conor

Thank you! I can confirm that changing the setting on my iPhone as you described worked on my home network without the need to set up a local network on my MacBook.
