DVDPedia iSight problems

Post by HappyBunny »

I just downloaded the DVDPedia demo (version 4.3) and am unable to scan barcodes with my MacBook Pro's iSight. I have tried about 6 different DVDs and the best I can do is to get it to flash green for an instant after several minutes of fiddling.

I have a 2.16GHz MacBook Pro, running 10.4.11. Is there anything I can do to make this work? I like the look of the software so far, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to buy it if I can't get the scanning to work.

Edit: I meant to say, 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo

Make sure you do not have a any other iSight software running such as iGlasses.

No other iSight software running, as far as I can tell.

What's the problem with iGlasses...?

I have it installed and for the most part, they seem to coexist okay. Occasionally, I get an error in reading the bar code, but not too often.

They coexist happily, even benefit from each other, iGlasses has all kinds of tools to sharpen the image and adjust the brightness. The only issue is using the mirroring in iGlasses, by the time the image makes it to the Pedias the order is reversed and not what Pedias expect.
